I am interested in using micro-teaching with my staff to improve their impact on student achievement next year. Do you know of articles to read or schools or people that I can contact that have been practicing micro-teaching effectively?

The key notion is to focus on the impact of the teacher on the student. The reason why a lot of video and classroom observation do not make much difference is that they focus on how the teacher teaches! Or on reflection – but 80 percent of what happens in the class the teacher does not see or hear. We are using an app “Visible Classroom” – (check their website) – it is free but the version on the Apple store is quite limited and a new release is imminent (but been imminent for some months now) – which is an audio system with immediate reporting back – to help teachers see more through how students see them rather than on their own (biased) refection” (John Hattie, personal communication, April 5, 2018).
