What kind of effect does passion of a teacher actually have on his/her pupils? (Are they more willing to learn in order to impress their teacher, more interested,…?)

Modified on Fri, 11 Oct at 4:23 PM

Passionate teachers do run a behavioral experiment, rewarding and punishing students for learning or not. They imbue in their students the love of learning for its own sake; they imbue in their students the desire to know more and to know deeply; and they have the skills to appropriately challenge (not too hard, not too boring) ALL their students. If the learning is to impress others (teacher, peers, parents) it is very hard to sustain” (John Hattie, personal communication, February 16, 2016).
